A very fun boomerang throwing lesson. 15 November 2025
Had a very fun time (Even though I was awful at throwing), Robert was knowledgeable and a very good instructor. He also brought out some other aboriginal artifacts at the end of the lesson, which was very interesting! All in all, a great time, and would recommend to anyone visiting Brisbane😄

Robert provides an incredible experience. He is passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient. He gave excellent instructions and many constructive comments on each of our throwing attempts. Along with his instruction, he gave us info on the boomerang aboriginal history and culture. If you are looking for a unique way to spend a morning in Brisbane, learn a new skill, learn some history and meet a wonderful Aussie, you need to do this.

Who wants to learn how to throw a boomerang??? Well, I sure did and Robert was the perfect person to teach me. I was the only one at the lesson and felt at ease the entire time. He’s very patient, knowledgeable and a great teacher. Thank you for a wonderful memory on my Australian vacation.

Great guide from the get-go telling us about Brisbane and the area! He had inside relationships with the makers of the boomerangs, so it was interesting to learn about those native people and the art of making a boomerang. He picked us up at our hotel promptly. He provided historical context of how natives used boomerangs and the various kinds. He went above and beyond to make sure we got our boomerangs since New Zealand would most likely confiscate them at the airport as a weapon. The guide described how natives used boomerangs to kill prey and other uses along with a few other native tools they used. He provided lots of practice throwing the different skill level boomerangs with feedback on how to get it to return closer to you. It was great!

Where else could you possibly learn to throw a boomerang! Robert was awesome! He picked us up & took us to a small park with no traffic. He showed us several different types of boomerangs & taught us the steps of throwing. Then we practiced many times with the different types. We each got to decide which type we liked best & keep it. He also offers shipping options if you need it. At the end he showed us artifacts and other boomerang type weapons. We also learned all the many uses for them. Great guy who loves what he does! Recommend if you have time! Note that it is 2 hours in the park, the ride to/from doesn’t count, so plenty of time to practice.

This excursion is so much more than a boomerang lesson. Robert is so genuine and kind with an enormous wealth of knowledge to share about Australia. This was by far my husband’s favourite experience while here. We highly recommend booking. You won’t be sorry. You’ll love Robert who seems like an old friend as soon as you meet him. What a great time! Robert was more than accommodating in picking us up at an arranged location. My husband and son-in-law picked up the technique while my grandson and I took a bit longer. Robert was so patient and we did eventually improve. He was very organized with extra water, sunscreen and a variety of boomerangs. He also showed us some other Aboriginal items. It was so much fun that the time really flew by.

An excellent experience, Robert picked us up at a suitable location and took us to a secluded meadow with plenty of space for the boomerang to be thrown from a position of shade. He explained how the boomerang achieved its curve and return, then showed us how to throw it and how to adjust factors within the throw and was determined to see improvement and seemed flexible on the amount of time he’d have to give to achieve it. Full of conversation and anecdotes, it was 2 hours well spent and we can now both throw our boomerangs that almost come back (10-15 feet away) more practice required. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a last minute tour request and Robert called right away to make sure he could make it. His training and understanding were both appreciated. He took the time to discuss the different types/styles of boomerang. He was patient and encouraging whilst attempting to teach us we would highly recommend this tour.

Robert was very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. The authentic boomerang, (with a certificate of authenticity), with who made it that we received at the end was awesome! We also received a boomerang lesson completion certificate and a sheet on what to do to keep up our progress on boomerang throwing.

Robert was lovely!, informative and really engaging! My husband picked up the technique really quickly. I alas did not. Robert was very patient and funny, he tried very hard and I did improve. He was really well prepared with extra water and a variety of boomerangs to try. It was great fun and we both enjoyed it hugely!

This was a WONDERFUL way to spend the afternoon! It was a different activity that felt completely Australian, allowed you to move around a bit, learn something new and have some great conversation with Robert. We also got to see some other Aboriginal items Robert had available. You should expect to move around and really play. It was truly one of the most fun things we did on our trip.

Oh geez where do I start? We were picked up at an arranged location and driven to an area to be taught how to throw a boomerang! Well hubby took to it better than me as I was obviously more challenged…but through perseverance or sheer luck I managed to throw a few good ones! It was soooo much fun that the time went too quick! I did however get knocked off my feet by one but it all adds to the fun (my fault for trying to video hubby throwing and not realising it was heading for me!!)
And you get to keep your boomerang!!

We learned a lot about the authenticity of boomerangs and of course at the end of the lesson, we learned how to throw the boomerang the right way to get it returned to you!

Robert has so much knowledge! His goal was to actually teach us to throw boomerangs, not just toss it a couple times and call it a day. He showed us how to hold it and throw, then watched and provided guidance on what we could change to improve. This was so much fun and exciting because the boomerang actually came back to us - when we threw properly.
